- July 13-October 2020, weather permitting
Temporary Residential Vehicle Access Route will be set-up between 62nd St. and 63rd St.
A temporary residential vehicle access route is being built between 62nd St. and 63rd St. This access will be for all residents east of the section of road closed under construction between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. It will be a 20-foot gravel road built over the existing McGroarty Trail along TH 52. This segment of trail will be closed to pedestrians and bicyclists for the duration of the project (see below for this detour info.).
This access route will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. and Babcock Trail will become the access route for the neighborhood. The contractor will be communicating by barricades and signs to let residents know the road is closed in a certain direction.
Beginning Monday, July 13, the McGroarty Trail from 65th St. to Hwy 52 underpass will close.
- Detour: Pedestrian and bike traffic will be routed through Lions Park from 65th St. and through the Hwy 52 underpass. Detour signs will be posted throughout Lions Park.
The closure is anticipated to last the duration of the construction project (into October 2020).
During construction working hours (Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.) there will be times when your driveway is blocked or inaccessible, and you may need to park and walk a short distance. You will need to allow for additional travel time to accommodate the contractor’s activities. The contractor is in charge of traffic control. Emergency access is always maintained or available. Limited access to your property will be maintained during construction. Driveways will be ramped as needed during the project, and fully accessible from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. If you have a disability or special needs, please contact Nick Hahn, City Inspector, at 651-470-6767.
Private Utility Work
As a result of the water main work, water service interruptions will occur. The shutdowns will take place on weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Utility Division will provide 48-hours-notice of these interruptions – please be observant of the City’s door hanger cards that will be placed on your front door. If you or someone in your residence has special needs that require a constant supply, of water please contact the Utility Division as soon as possible at 651-450-4309 or 651-450-2565.
It is common to experience water discoloration, air in water, or low pressure shortly after a water main shut-down until the system gets back to normal. If you experience these problems more than 24 hours after the water has been turned back on, or if you experience problems with your sanitary sewer service, please contact the Utility Division. For water or sewer service concerns that need to be addressed outside of normal business hours (7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), contact the Dakota County Communication Center at 651-322-2323 and ask to have the Inver Grove Heights Duty Person contact you.
